Historical Patent Storage
Did you know that special drawers called “shoes” stored patent documents more than a century ago? Cobblers and cabinet makers built ready-made shoe drawers that just happened to be the exact size needed to file bundles of patents. Today, the USPTO stores all patent documents in an electronic database, but right now at the museum, you can see an important piece of our nation’s patent history!
Five-Tool Inventors
Celebrate extraordinary “five-tool inventors” and the unique combination of skills that set them apart from the rest. You can learn about the five critical skills these creative all-stars possess and find out how these visionaries are shaping the future with their innovative spirit and expertise.
